Justin R. Melat is a founding partner of Melat, Pressman & Higbie, LLP. Mr. Melat serves clients in Colorado Springs, Pueblo, surrounding counties and throughout the San Luis and Arkansas Valleys who have suffered serious personal injury or wrongful death in automobile accidents and in other situations caused by the negligence or wrongful conduct of another. Mr. Melat is actively involved in the legal community as well as the political/cultural community.

A native of Gary, Indiana, Mr. Melat was raised in Virginia and educated in Tennessee before moving to Colorado.

Mr. Melat began practicing general law in 1969 and gravitated to a trial litigation practice. For about 10 years he was involved in criminal defense, insurance defense and representing injured plaintiffs. As the practice expanded, only plaintiffs (injured persons) have been accepted as clients for 30 years. Areas of specialty and experience include: product liability, truck, motorcycle and automobile negligence, slip and falls, premises liability and professional negligence. Always representing the injured person.

As a partner at the law firm of Melat, Pressman & Higbie, LLP, Colorado attorney Alan Higbie concentrates his practice in the areas of personal injury, wrongful death, insurance bad faith, and products liability.

Mr. Higbie has practiced civil and criminal law in Colorado and Alaska for 40 years, concentrating exclusively on Colorado civil law since 1984. He was a member of the 4th Judicial District Judicial Performance Commission and is the author of "Claims Against the Insurance Carrier for Breach, Bad Faith, and Unreasonable Delay." in the Colorado Auto Litigator's Handbook, 3rd edition. Mr. Higbie has often been asked to provide expert opinions on issues of insurance claims practices.

Mr. Higbie is a native of Massachusetts and was raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, completing his undergraduate work at the University of California, Berkeley and earning his law degree from the University of San Francisco School of Law. While in law school, he served as a member of the Law Review. Prior to completing his college education, Mr. Higbie served with the U.S. Army Security Agency from 1967 to 1971.

Josh Robnett

Joshua Robnett is an associate in the Colorado Springs law firm of Melat, Pressman, & Higbie, LLP. He practices in the areas of personal injury, insurance bad faith, wrongful death, and products liability.

Mr. Robnett is actively involved in the local legal community and is a member of the Colorado Bar Association and the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association. He is the co-author of a chapter in the Colorado Auto Litigator's Handbook entitled “Claims Against the Insurance Carrier for Breach, Bad Faith, and Unreasonable Delay.”

Mr. Robnett is a Chicago native and completed his undergraduate work at Northern Illinois University and earned his law degree from Roger Williams University School of Law.

Prior to earning his law degree, Mr. Robnett served in the United States Army from 1989 to 1993. He also had an extensive career in the automotive industry as a service manager, mechanic, and service advisor.
